Shuso Entering Ceremony

Monmouth Zen Circle invites you to attend a formal Shuso Entering Ceremony with

our teacher, Kotatsu John Bailes. The Shuso Entering Ceremony marks the beginning

of a more intensive Zen practice period (Ango) lead by the designated head monk

(Shuso). Our head monk will be Myoshin Tom Jones, who has been practicing Zen

for 25 years. Both Myoshin and Kotatsu are priests in the Soto Zen school of

San Francisco Zen Center. This may be the first Shuso Entering Ceremony to be held in Monmouth County.
